MASCHINENHAUS ESSEN - THE THEATRE OF GENERATIONS TO COME

WESTWIND 2024 from 1 to 8 June 2024

The 40th edition of WESTWIND festival will be hosted by Maschinenhaus in Essen

MASCHINENHAUS ESSEN - THE THEATRE OF GENERATIONS TO COME

In cooperation with Schauspiel Essen and pact zollverein.

Known as the Theatre of Generations to Come, Maschinenhaus Essen is delighted to host Westwind festival in 2024 for the first time! As a production venue for independent ensembles and artists, Maschinenhaus can already be considered a host par excellence. With no permanent ensemble and no artistic director of its own, both the team and the venue are used to adapting to their guests’ unique needs and specifications.

The task of bundling an array of wonderfully diverse and exciting artistic contributors into one relatively harmonious experience – in the large brick hall and surrounding park of the former Carl colliery – ties in directly with the profile of Maschinenhaus and is sure to make it shine. For Maschinenhaus Essen offers the greatest possible freedom of unique exploration and discovery – whether for professionals, audiences, experts, children, adults or anyone eager to experience, create and shake things up. We invite everyone to join us!

Maschinenhaus Essen is delighted to be cooperating with Schauspiel Essen and its new artistic directors, Selen Kara and Christina Zintl, who are opening up their theatre to Westwind right at the beginning of their very first season.

The festival will take place from 1 to 8 June 2024

The review period is from 14 August 2023 to 4 February 2024

The application deadline is 29 October 2023
