spooky  (world premiere)

pulk fiktion, cologne
Co-production with KJT Dortmund, FWT Köln, FFT Düsseldorf

a live theatrical radio play for blind and sighted people.

The theatre space becomes a strange place with crackling corners and creaking doors: noises create strange worlds and strange figures appear - or seem to be very close to you. Sometimes it can get dark and sometimes very loud, the wind can blow through your hair or an ice-cold hand can touch your shoulder. You will encounter strange adults, ghosts, monsters and real dangers and, of course, a good ghost. But don't worry: nothing will happen to you. Maybe you'll get goosebumps and maybe you'll laugh at your own horror. pulk fiktion is looking for a fun-filled scare and is attempting to give the fantastic scary ideas as well as the real horrors of the world an exciting appearance.

Excerpt from the jury's statement:
“The theatrical live radio play "GRUSEL" offers a particularly interesting way of dealing with fears for sighted and blind people: to face them by enjoying the creeps”

The theatrical live radio play "GRUSEL" offers a particularly interesting way of dealing with fears for sighted and blind people: to face them by enjoying the creeps. Shortly after entering the theatre space, they are already there, all the figures and scenes from the collective fear memory: the monsters under the bed, the skeleton with a rattling chain, the eerily squeaking door or adults doing strange things. Older viewers/listeners are also offered a lot: They can remember those childhood feelings that arose in bed, for example, when the sounds of the house became audible. The production consistently maintains the perspective of children, but also leaves a lasting impression on adults. Sitting in the centre of the stage with headphones, you immediately find yourself in an eerie scene and listen to the friendly narrator's voice as she guides you through the performance. The familiar voice allows everyone to participate individually, despite scary figures appearing from all corners. It also allows you to decide for yourself how much horror you want to allow. The production builds bridges to the respective worlds of experience without any pedagogical finger-wagging.

pulk fiktion is a collective founded in 2007 and based in Cologne. A heterogeneous group of artists from the fields of theatre, film, music, performance, video art and interactive media develop productions for children, young people and adults in various constellations. The interdisciplinary approach arises from the unconditional goal of aligning the aesthetic form individually to the topic and on the basis of social issues and pop culture models. The productions have been invited to various national and international festivals and have been honoured with numerous awards.
